"The true work of art is but a shadow of the Divine Perfection" -Michaelangelo

As an Orthodox Jewish artist, I draw from Judaic philosophy and nature to flavor my work.

"The true work of art is but a shadow of the Divine Perfection." - Michelangelo.

I interpret this not as disparaging man's limitations in comparison to G-d, but as an aspiration for man to imitate G-d. We can all accomplish this by being creators as well - by producing wondrous art.

A beautiful source for this idea is found in the Torah from the Biblical master artisan's name, "Betzal-el," meaning, "in the shadow of G-d" (Exodus 35: 30).
